Alton Towers have added four new stage shows to their attractions line-up, which begin today.
Taking place at a newly constructed stage on the lawns, the four shows are linked by the common theme of Sir Algenon's Time Travelling Starship.
The four shows are: Darwin and Eric's Time Travel Adventure; Darwin and Eric's Historical Mixup; Time Architects: Birth of Soul; and Time Architects: Taking it to the Streets. Shows start at 11am, with each lasting approximately 15 minutes, and are repeated up-to 3 times throughout the day.
The shows use characters unique to Alton Towers, who form part of the story surrounding the Alton Towers Hotel. The use of characters who had been largely unused in recent years, apart from a rare appearance frequently surrounding a marketing event, marks an important change from predominantly external IP related shows existing at Merlin Entertainments theme parks. It should also give far greater creative freedoms.
The start of the stage shows coincides with the beginning of Alton Towers Mardi Gras, which begins on 22nd May. The Mardi Gras entertainments will additionally provide carnival entertainment across the park.
